Dear bhagavathas,

Sri.Madhavakannan of Singapore is doing a great kaimkaryam of translating the divya prabandham in a simple English providing the basic meaning of the pasurams. His write ups are concise yet filled with great anubavams. His translations are strictly as per our sampradayam and adiyen has benefitted a lot from his wonderful translations. So far he has completed Thiruvaymozhi and Peria Thirumozhi and few thiruvandhadhis. adiyen is sure that he will continue to enlighten us with the balance prabandhams in the coming days.

Sri.Madhavakannan used to present meanings for every ten pasurams in one posting. Most of you aware that all such postings are being archeived in Sri.Mani's Srivaishnavam page and also in bhakti list egroups site. But since the postings are scattered spanning over a period of two years it may be bit difficult to browse and read them. adiyen is attempting to compile them for the benefit of bhagavathas who can read the entire Peria thirumozhi in say 11 documents.Hope this will be of use to you.

Now over to Sri.Madhavakannan and adiyen won't interfere with him and Thirumangai azhvar, hereafter.

Periya Thirumozhi- Introduction

 Sri:

Dearest Sisters and Brothers, Happy makara sankaranthi! Happy Pongal!

I pray to Divya Damapthis for Their blessings and AchAryAs and ThirumangaiAzhwAr for Their anugraham for my yet another rash, brazen attempt to enter into tranlsation kaimkaryam. Please forgive me for my errors and mistakes. Anything good in it, I am not to be "blamed"; All Emperumaan's grace and AzhwAr's and AchAryan anugraham.  All mistakes, blunders are mine; Please pat (slap) my back for that.

ThirumangaiAzhwAr's Periya Thirumozhi is what we are going to enjoy next. All of you know well about this Great AzhwAr, and he needs no introduction. However, for novices like me, just a quick account of his biography:

In his early days, as a king, our Lord Narayana was far from AzhwAr's thoughts.  His spiritual journey started with a commitment he made to his sweetheart Kumudhavalli in exchange for her hand in marriage.  While most women may have asked for her suitor's everlasting love, or a diamond ring, or a golden bangle, all our gentle lady Kumudhavalli sought from AzhwAr was that he must wear the marks of Sri Vaishnava and serve food (amudhu) for 1,000 Vaishnavaas everyday for a period of one
year.  This service, initiated as a price for carnal pleasure, turned into a labour of divine love towards the devotees of our Lord Narayana. Years rolled by.  AzhwAr spent all his wealth in the service of Vaishnavas.  With his coffers empty, AzhwAr could not continue the service.  He could not bear the thought of having to turn away the Vasihnavas who by then were accustomed to blessing his abode with their presence.

The feeling of despair turned to anger at the sight of the greedy idle rich strolling around with all their gaudy and ostentatious jewels and showing contempt for the simple and devout Vasihnavas.  This was enough to drive our Great AzhwAr to actions. But it was not just fame that was in store for our AzhwAr.

Our Lord Sriya: Pathih Sriman Narayana decided to intervene and turn AzhwAr away from the ways of the sword.  He and His consort, our divine mother Sri, appeared before him as a newly wed couple bedecked with priceless ornaments.  AzhwAr, who hid himself at ThirumaNankollai, stopped the couple and forcibly relieved them of all the jewellery.

But, there was one piece on our Lord's toe that wouldn't come off however much AzhwAr tried.  In frustration AzhwAr
put his head on the lotus feet of our Lord (!) with the intention of biting the ring off. He asked the Lord as to what is the magic manthra for removing? (The Lord must have mis understood that AzhwAr enquires regarding samsaara bond!) and that sort of SaraNagathy did work! at that moment AzhwAr was drawn in by the beauty of the lotus feet and realized
the true nature of the couple standing in front of him.  The Lord then instructed the esoteric meaning of the "magic manthra" i.e
"Thirumandhiram" or Ashtaaksharam for the Most Blessed AzhwAr, to get initiated by the Lord Himself, with Their "thadutthaaTkoLLal".

Thus AzhwAr learnt of the efficacy of the divine name "Narayana" from our Lord Narayana Himself!

He  immediately burst out to sing the poem "Periya Thirumozhi" (Great divine poem) consisting of 1,084 verses.  The first ten of these verses are dedicated to the name "Narayana."  These first 10 emotional verses give aid and comfort to people.

AzhwAr comes down hard on himself with intense self criticism for the violence he had caused, though for a good cause, for having sought fleeting worldly pleasures, for having squandered his days on mundane pursuits.  He ends each of
these ten verses with a celebration of the divine name Narayana, for after finding this sweet name, AzhwAr declares, he was free from all the sins and assured of the everlasting bliss at the lotus feet of our sweet Lord Narayana   (Biography passage -stole- from Sri Dileepan's post in Dec 95- in bhakti list - Thanks, Dileepan!)

His compositions were :

1. Periya thirumozhi
2. Periya thirumadal
3. SiRiya thirumadal
4. Thiru nedunthANdakam (TNT)
5. Thiru KurunthANdakam(TKT)
6.Thiru vezhuk kurrirukkai.

His pAsurams are marvellous; excellent and have unsurpassed beauty in them. ParAsara Bhattar made use of his TNT to win over his counter part, an advaitin scholar in his arguments and later the advaitin became his disciple 'nam jeeyar'.

Sri RanganAtha himself heard and was greatly pleased with that argument re-enacted from Bhattar quoting from TNT (Please read excellent posts of Sri V. SadagOpan on TNT and TKT duringFeb 96 from Bhakti Archives - a real feast to each one of you).

Thirumangai AzhwAr (a KING, a person who had all kingly royal comforts) walked all the way and VISITED almost all temples. He is simply GREAT, my dearest brothers and sisters. He is JUST S U P E R B AzhwAr. His wordings are his outpourings straight from his heart.

It is told and declared by Tamil Poets of all kinds that His paasurams contain ezhutthu (writing), sol,(words) poruL, (meanings), yaappu (Grammar), aNi (figure of sppech?) etc.. His songs are so great and so nice to recite! It is simple and quite lucid too for reciters and those who know even little Tamil, can understand the lovely emotional outbursts of AzhwAr and his bhakti.

His paasurams depict mainly the archaavathaarams of Divya dEsams, and when He enjoys Them with the descrition of Divya Desams, they simply immerse us in unbounded limitless bliss and pErAnandham.

Thai AzhwAr, when Kumudavalli had asked him to become a Srivaishnava, got his pancha samskaaram done by ThirunaRaiyoor Nambhi. He got his Thiru ManthrOpadEsam from Sri SowrirAja PerumAL; AzhwAr praises These Lords individually with 100 pAsurams! Nambhi naamam sollil NamO NaaraayaNamE".

This AzhwAr had Great regards for NammAzhwAr. He appealed and requested Sri Ranganathan for lsitening to Thiruvaaymozhi from Kaarthigai sukla Ekadasi and now all Sri vaishnava Divya Desams celebrate this uthasavam of reciting Thiruvaaymozhi.

The essence of Periya Thirumozhi is: The worldly life is sorrowful; It can be cured only by the grace of Sriman Narayanan; Hence, get saved by paying obeisance to Him at His Divya Desams (106 Thiruppathis on this Earth). AzhwAr visited almost about 80 Thiruppathis, all on foot; He sang 1253 passurams, next only to NammAzhwAr; (but NammAzhwAr never went
to any Divya Desams; The Lords came to Him!)… Thirumangai AzhwAr padi padi paraparappaay Thirndhaar…He declares: If one surrenders to Sriman Narayanan, "enRum vinaiyaagina saaragilaavE"… (Never will sins accrue to your account!)..

This prabhandham should be read, re-read, re-re read and enjoyed! So nice are they… Last Kaarthigai Kritthigai nakshathram (during AzhwAr Thirunakshathram) as instructed by our KaNNan Swami, I could recite Periya Thirumozhi for ten days preceding his Thirunakshathram and completed on his birthday. It was a great feeling of having read his lovely Periya Thirumozhi. Dearest Sisters and Brothers, my attempting to write these translation is: 1. Those who do not know Tamil, can get to know the meanings, and enjoy. 2. Those who wish to know the meanings (though we all know Tamil, it is still difficult to understand the
meanings) and 3. Being a self-centred person, I myself would like to enjoy them, by reading the pAsurams and writing these translations.

May I request for all your aseervaathams and wishes for such a rash attempt? (Fools rush in where angels fear to tread).

Thirumangai AzhwAr ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam

In the last ten AzhwAr enjoyed the sowlabhyam of Emperum, aan showing Himself
at ThirukkOttoyoor. Now here AzhwAr pays his obeisance to various Divya
Desams PerumAL in one ten.

is SarvEshwaran; - whom we paid our obeisance at ThirummalirunchOlai. He,

He, who plucked the tusk of huge terrifying Kuvalayaapeetam elephant making
it shout with pain before dying, who walked gracefully enticing everyone who
saw Him walking- SarvEshawarn- whom we paid our obeisance at

beloved devotees) at Thirunaavaay.

10.  This ten is on the SarvEshwaran – the Lord of ThiruppEr Divya Desam who
reared and protected the cows. KaliganRi AzhwAr composes it. It is very
sweet and those who read them will never be in dearth of Bhagavadh Vishayam.
The Parama padham will be easy to attain.

Periya Thirumozhi 10.2- Sing this ten; there will be no more sorrows

ThirumangaiAzhwAr so far enjoyed the Divya Desam perumALs. Now He starts
enjoying vibhava avatars (Rama, Krishna and others). This ten especially is
beautiful. The asurAs – raakshasaas of lankA have now been deserted after
the king rAvaNan’s death. They are scared and have started praising Sri Rama
and His army so that they will be spared. The pAsurams end with “ponganttham
pongO”.. ( I don’t know its translation.. But could it be called “victory to
thee.. (you.) erudite scholars may like to add…). AzhwAr, in order to sing
in praise of Rama has also taken the role of rAkshassas even. The objective
is to sing in praise of Him; so how does it belittle, if it is sung in the
role of raakshasaas? IT will not.

1. Due to our king rAvaNan’s merciless act of doing wrong deeds has now
started paying dividends on us too. Look at this. What is the use of talking
about it now? RAvaNan is already killed and dead. To whom else can we advise
now hereafter? Oh the chief of monkey army! Oh iLaya perumALE (LakshmaNA!)
RamapiraanE! The One who carries the most beautiful Divine Bow! There is no
chance of our winning any more as there is none else on our side to bring
victory. We are scared.. We are hailing solidly, “thadampo~ngattham
po~ngO..” (Victory to you.)

2. Strong king of ours- rAvaNan with ten heads, the strong twenty shoulders,
lost his sense on women and lost his wealth thereby. We (his servants) do
not know what to do. We are unfortunate to be stuck with this situation, due
to our no bondage or connection with the peerless, unmatched Sri Ramapiraan,
with unparalleled two shoulders, and one shining crown. Oh our father-like
Ramaa! Do not kill us. (paavam.. Lord Rama would have surely taken pity on
them. What an anubhavam of AzhwAr!)  We are scared.. We are hailing solidly,
“thadampo~ngattham po~ngO..” (Victory to you.)

3. With no mercy, our king entered into dhaNdakaaraNyam and abducted SitA
PiraaTTi and finished due to that terrible fault he had committed. In this
regard, we are faultless. Oh Dasaratha’s son! The One who does not punish
those who are innocent and are not at fault! What is there to talk about the
raakshasa kulam that has lost its sense due to their desire after women? You
have perfroemd the act that is desired by Devas (having killed our king). We
are scared.. We are hailing solidly, “thadampo~ngattham po~ngO..” (Victory
to you.)

4. In front of the strong king rAvaNan, who is never in dearth of weapons,
his brother vibhIshaNan prostrated at his feet and then scolded him saying,
“you have sought the poison to finish off the raakshasa kulam by bringing in
PiraaTTi.”. To the likes of all these monkeys, we are suffering having lost
in the battle. Take the PiraaTTi who has black tresses that has curls,
length, coolness, beauty and darkness. We are scared.. We are hailing
solidly, “thadampo~ngattham po~ngO..” (Victory to you.)

5. our niyanthaa – king rAvaNan, who has golden crown on his head, has
brought in the beautiful Goddess (Deivam) SitA PiraaTTi and imprisoned her
in the new (fresh-) beautiful asOka vanam and has committed great blunder.
Due to that blunder, Kumbhan and Nikumbhan have perished. The yama himself
(one who had run away from rAvaNan with fear earlier) now, in human form has
come to finish us off- it appears. (Meaning: the death has come to us in the
from of Rama.) We are scared.. We are hailing solidly, “thadampo~ngattham
po~ngO..” (Victory to you.)

6. Crossing the vast, wavy, noisy ocean, and destroying the most fragrant
asOka vanam, killing the son (akshayakumaran) of rAvaNan and others, burnt
the entire city with the fire from his tail, the messenger monkey did all
that was enough for rAvaNan to simply hand over SitA PiraaTTi to him
(Hanumaan). Now we, the innocent ones, stand here shivering with fear, are
suffering. aiyO! We are scared.. We are hailing solidly, “thadampo~ngattham
po~ngO..” (Victory to you.)

7. The moment You crossed the ocean by building a bridge on deep ocean,
rAvaNan should have handed over PiraaTTi (the tender waisted, creeper like,
deer eyed youthful, beautiful one) to You. He had ahankaaram and haughtiness
and had lusty temptation / desire foolishly and idiotically. You may want to
finish the lankA city and capture the same completely, maNi vaNNA!. But we
are not guilty. We are scared.. We are hailing solidly, “thadampo~ngattham
po~ngO..” (Victory to you.)

8. When there are very beautiful fish like eyed wives of the likes of
maNdOthari for our king, having ignored to hug their tender breasts, he
imprisoned PiraaTTi thinking that “those who belong her in her side, are all
simply some sages; what can they do with me?” and had dirty, crooked
thoughts in his mind. We are scared of Rama, who sent strong arrows through
the strong chest of rAvaNan; who (Rama) has strong beautiful shoulders like
manmathan (even while facing death,  they still enjoy the beauty of Raman’s
shoulders). He only can save us. We are hailing solidly, “thadampo~ngattham
po~ngO..” (Victory to you.)

9. Within a fraction of second, Sivan burnt the Tripuram. Rama’s arrows are
fierier than that of Sivan’s. We prostrate at Your Feet with Jaambhavann
standing next to You. Oh Sugreevaa! The son of the Sun That shines all over
the world giving brightness everywhere! Please have mercy on us. Oh chief of
monkey army! Please do not kill us and do spare us. We have told what we
wanted to tell. .. We are hailing solidly, “thadampo~ngattham po~ngO..”
(Victory to you.)

10. Oh servants (of Sriya: Pathi Sriman Narayanan)! This ten is on Rama
Piraan, who destroyed lankA, and cleared the minds of Devas. This ten of
“Ponganatham pongO” has been sung by Kaliyan, who can ride the strong,
“aadal maa” horse. Sing this ten everywhere on the earth and dance with joy!
There is absolutely NO WORRY or grievance for you hereafter. When you die,
the place of residence is only Paramapadham (SrivaikuNtam). Learn that. We
are hailing solidly. Victory to you.. “thadampo~ngattham po~ngO..”

Periya Thirumzohi 10.3- raakshasaas dance "KuzhamaNi dhooram"(Losers' dance)

When someone loses in the battlefield, the losers dance “kuzhamaNi dhooram”.
Here asurAs of lankA now dance “kuzhamaNi dhooram,” announcing their loss
and praising their enemies. AzhwAr describes beautifully in yet another ten.

1. yEtthuginRom naatthazhumba viraaman Thirunaamam*/
sOttha nambhI! Sugreevaa! Ummaith thozhuginRom*/
vaaratthai pEsIr emmai yu~ngaL vaanaram kollaamE*/
kootthar pOla aaduginROm kuzhamaNi dhooram!

We praise the divine names of Rama, uttering with our quivering tongues. Oh
valorous Sugreevaa! Obeisance to you. Please instruct the monkeys not to
kill us. We are dancing KuzhamaNi dhooram. (Losers’ dance)

2. empiraanE! Ennai Alvaay enRu enRu alaRRaathE/
ambin vaay pattaaRRagilladhu indhrajith azhindhaan/
nambhi anumaa! sugreevaa! a~ngathanE! naLanE!
KumbhakarNan pattuppOnaan kuzhamaNi dhooramE/

“My Lord! Please enslave me and rule me”-thus Indrajith never did not pay
obeisance to You, Rama and could not endure the sufferings from facing
arrows and got killed. Oh most auspicious Hanumaa! A~ngathaa! NaLaa!
KumbhakarNan too is dead.  We are dancing KuzhamaNi dhooram. (Losers’ dance)

3. jnAlam aaLum ungaL kOmaan engaL irAvaNaRkkuk*/

neelan vaazhuga! SudENan vaazhga! A~ngathan vaazhgavenRu*/
kOlamaaga vaaduginROm kuzhamaNi dhooramE!

The Swami of you all, monkey warriors, - Rama, - who can protect the whole
world, has become the Yama of rAvaNan. Having seen that, we are terribly
scared. Oh NeelanE! Greetings to you.  SudENanE! Greetings. A~ngathanE!
Greetings to you. We are dancing KuzhamaNi dhooram. (Losers’ dance)

4. maNa~ngaL naaRum vaarkuzhalaar maadhargaL aadharatthaip*/
puNarndha chinthaip punmaiaaLan ponRa varisilaiaal*/
kaNangaLuNNa vaaLIyaaNda kaavalanukku iLaiyOn*/
guNangaL paadi aaduginROm kuzhamaNi dhoormaE.

The RAvaNan- who had his heart always and only on fragrant haired women- was
finished in the battlefield, (letting the “ghosts” (kaNaNgaL) eat his body)
by Rama who has arrows in His beautiful divine Bow. We praise the kalyANa
guNAs of younger brother of Rama and dance “kuzhamaNi dhooram.”

5. venRi thhandhOm maanam vENdOm dhaanam emakkaaga*/
inRu thamminangaL vaaNaaL emperumaan thamargaaL!*/
ninRu kaaNeer kaNgaL aara neer emmaik kollaadhE*/
kunRu pOla aaduginRom kuzhamanI dhooramE*/

Oh money warriors- servants of Rama! For your victory, we have offered
ourselves to you (surrendered). We are also warriors- there is no such
“ahankaaram” any more in us. Please offer our lives to us now. Please do not
kill us, and look at us, with your eyes. We are dancing “kuzhamaNi dhooram”.

6. Your Chief- Raman built abridge across the ocean by bringing mountains as
stones, and crossed the strong walls of our lankA, and troubled us terribly
in the battlefield. Oh sugreevaa, the son of the Sun! We are scared and are
not able to fight with you. We are dancing “KuzhamaNi dhooram.”

7. Oh raakshaas, who have been born as asurAs and have not bowed down to
anyone else! Like us, come here and approach them (monkey warriors). All
that you need to utter is only this. If you want their anger on you to
subside, do not talk about your valour or glories anymore. Greet Hanuman
(the one who is strong since birth) and dance “kuzhamaNi dhooram”, letting
these monkeys (who stand like our yaman) see our dance.

8. The strong, angry elephants, the galloping horses, the huge chariots, -
with all of these the asurAs came in to the battle field, and were simply
crushed by the most victorious male (Lion) Rama. If you do not want
yourselves to be killed by these monkey servants of Rama, all that you need
to do is: Dance “KuzhamaNi dhooram” and let the son of Dasaratha
Chakravartthi – king of Ayodhya- Lord Rama, the one who is of blue hued
beautiful Form, see our dance.

9. Our king rAvaNan, who had sharp, long spear in his hand, ran away showing
his back. Hence. We have lost and suffered, thinning down. With a desire to
live, we have taken the words of your Swami- Rama, on our head. Please do
not continue to torture us any further.  We sing and dance “KuzhamaNi
dhoorma” in groups.

10. For very long time, only victory has been theirs. Such string, mountain
like auras, in the battlefield danced “KuzhamaNi dhooram” and saved their
lives. This ten is on “KuzhamaNi dhhoram” was sung by Kaliyan, who has blood
stained spear in his hand. Oh Bhagawathas! Sing this garland of ten in
chaste Tamil and dance.

Periya Thirumozhi 10.4- "Come and eat "ammum"- on Your "Happy Birthday"

Today is SrI Jayanthi- our Kutti KaNNan’s “Happy Birthday.”. We need to
celebrate it, paying obeisance and surrendering to His little red lotus
Feet. ThirumangaiAzhwAr comes to our rescue singing now Kutti KaNNan’s
pAsurams (switches from rama avtaar to kriishNa avtaar).

The scene: YashOdhA finds herself waiting for the little;e darling of hers
to come in and drink her milk. Kutti KaNNan is about 1 to 1-1/2 years old
(let us assume). He still drinks ammA’s milk (as the children used to drink
till about three years)

She calls Kutti KaNNan, who is playing probably outside, to come in and have
her milk. Enjoyable ten. More so, today. (toddlers generally call food and
milk as “ammum- or mummum. AzhwAr uses the word “ammum”.)

1. Oh ParipoorNanE! (Due to Nandhan’s being blessed with a Divine Child like
You) Oh my sweetest darling, who is like the nectar for my enjoyment! Our
Kula nAthA! KaNNA! Drink my breast milk that will do good to You. Come
running eagerly with your black flower bedecked hair on Your Head dancing
(due to the speed of your run). Take my breast, (full of milk), in your
hand, place it in Your mouth and drink.

2. Oh NambhI (PaoorNanE), the One who is of the form of wavy ocean! Ruddy
lined large eyed SelvamE! (My darling!) Red lotus (like) mouthed KuttI! My
breasts have been engorged with milk. Even after I have called You, I have
not seen You. Where and what are You playing with those cowherd children?

3. NambhI (PoorNanE!, the One who plays on the streets with cowherd boys who
are equally rich and beautiful (like You)! I thoroughly enjoy Your play on
those streets with all those mischief that You perform! The milk is coming
out of my breasts and is getting wasted. Come to my lap, take the breast in
Your mouth and drink dear.

4. All men and women in the world perform “thapas” (penance) to be blessed
with a good child. That thapas itself has become a personification in You,
darling, who is the Cause of the Universe! Oh male elephant like KuttI! I
will catch the crescent moon from that red sky (twilight) and give You to
play with. Come and sit on my lap, and desirously drink my breast milk.

5. My son, who has the collyrium (“mai”) like dense, dark hair! The one who
crawled (walked) between the two trees! One who performed most wonderful
acts! The One who can eat any amount of butter (veNNai) without spilling!
Such greatest Lord! This milk secretion and breasts engorgement- I cannot
endure any longer. PurushOtthamA! Eat “ammum” (milk). The One who measured
the Universe! Come, eat “ammum”.

6. You don’t do what Your aged Boys do. (They cannot even walk straight- You
walk along with mortar and went between the trees). You have “kapatam”
(mischief) in your heart (unlike other children- You are a “chOr” (thief)).
Even while seeing and looking at You, You cheat and do some mischievous,
wonderful deeds. (maayaavI!). My heart melts and breast milk flows out. Do
not show signs of sleep- come and drink milk.

7. NambhI, the one who sucked the life itself along with the breast milk of
the cunning Poothanai, who came with a “fake”, pretending motherly love. Oh
Divine Consort of the most feminine Nappinnai PiraaTTi and BhUmi PiraaTTi!
My darling strong son! Eat my “ammum”.

8. If You do some mischief, You father will get angry. And I am even capable
of hitting You with a stick in my hand to cause pain on Your ThirumEni
(Divine Body). When Your cows come back in the evening, the Devas from the
sky are flabbergasted as to how much wealth we have. Come inside before they
cast their evil glance on You. Also, the evening is the time for asurAs to
gain more strength. Hence, do not stand there, outside. Come darling, the
One who has ChakrA in Your resplendent hand! Come here.

9. Oh Chief of Cows! My SwamI! The most merciful NandhagOpan’s son! Yuva
raja (Prince ) for all our relatives! Most Auspicious, grandest, greatest
One! The One who goes to the forests for rearing groups of cows! Male
elephant (like strong One)! My son, who gives me greatest pride and
happiness! Why are You here without drinking my breast milk?

10. Most beautiful shouldered Kailyan, has sung this excellent ten pAsurams
(that has got all grammar and qualifications of removing the samsaaric
afflictions). This ten is on YashOdhA PiraaTTi’s pleading Kutti KaNNan,
saying, “Come and eat “ammum”. Those who recite (or read) this ten, with
interest, will be considered on par with Nithyasooris.

Our hugs and kisses to our darling Kutti KaNnan.

Periya Thirumozhi 10.5- dhaamOdharaa! Kottaay sappANI! thaamaraikkaNNanE sappANI

ThirumangaiAzhwAr in the last ten enjoyed YashOdhA's calling Kutti KaNNan's
for eating "ammum". Now he enjoys Kutti KaNNan's sappaNip paruvam (clapping
hands with joy).

1. YashOdhA PiraaTTi, the one who has most fragrant flowers in her hair,
tied the little darling of hers, to a mortar and beat Him, for His entering
and eating the “just churned” fresh veNNai (butter). He took all that
beatings with His large eyes full of tears (due to pain). After some time,
He became normal getting up like (and YashOdhA asks Him) one of arising
noisy Dark Ocean like form! Clap Your Hands! The One who is like shining Gem
stone! Clap Your Hand! (O~ngOtha vaNNanE! SappaaNi! OLimaNi vaNNanE!
SappaaNi!)

2. The mothers (of cowherd folks) became pleased with hearts swelling with
happiness, when KaNNan entered into their houses and ate curd and ghee.
EmperumaanE! One who thinks that these acts are most appropriate for You!
(such sowseelya guNA of His is enjoyed here) Oh most beautiful One among
this biggest cowherd group on this vast earth! One who has the mouth and the
small Feet like the beautiful red lotus flower! Clap Your Hands! Oh Lord of
Cloud like dark form! Clap Your Hands! (adigaL* aravnidha vaayavanE! Kottaay

3. (An excellent Pasuram! Look at the play with words)
“thaamOr uruttith thayir ney vizhu~ngittu*
thaamO thavazhvar enRu aaycchiyar thaambinaal*
thaam mOdharak kaiyaal aarkkath thazhumbirundha*
dhaamOdharaa! Kottaay sappaNI!
 Thaamaraik kaNNanE! SappaaNi!

“thaam” (ivar) (He) rolled the butter milk (mOr) container, ate the curd and
ghee and now after having done all that, He (thaam) is crawling.”- Saying
this angrily, (thaam mOdha) Aaycchiyar (Cowherd women) mOdha- adikka (beat)
KaNNan and tied with a rope, due to which there is even mark on His
ThirumEni (Divine Body), and hence is called DamOdharan. Oh Damodharaa! Clap
Your Hands! Red Lotus eyed Lord! Clap Your Hands!

4. One, who appeared with the chains unfastening automatically from the
parents’ legs and hands, did when the mother, father and other are not
around: - who drank the breast milk along with the life of the cunning
Poothanai, (who had entered into aayarpaadi, causing fear fearing everyone
in the world (not just relatives)). Such wonderful Lord, who had reared the
calves! Clap Your Hands! The Dark cloud like colored Lord! Clap Your Hands!

5. KaNNapiraanE! The One who ate the poison from Poothanai’s breast! Please
grant me what I ask for. I am offering my salutations to You. The cowherd
women will give You big “appam” for You to eat. For them to see and enjoy,
Clap Your Hands many times; With Your Beautiful Hands, clap Your Hands!

6. Oh son of Nandhagopan! Male Ox like Strong beautiful Lord! One who is
born to rear cows! One who is of dark flower like colour- so beautiful! One
who has the shining great corwn on your Head (indicating that You are the
KING OF KINGS)! You stomach is not just a smallm silly thing for me! (aRpam
anRu). I will give aval, appam etc.. for You to eat. Clap Your Hands! Pot
dancer! Clap Your Hands

7. PerumAnE! One who tore open the bird (pakAsuran)! One who uprooted the
“kurundha” tree! One who jumped and played eating the butter (hung from
top)! One who strokes my breasts (while He drinks), with His divine Hands
and gave me immense happiness! Clap Your Hands! PEy mulai uNdaanE! (One who
ate the breast of that devil- Poothanai) Clap Your Hands!

8. At the stroke of midnight, when the mother and others were not aware,
with the cunning heart, and with sweet words pretending with “motherly”
love, Poothanai came in and offered her breast milk (poisonous), and You ate
her life along with her milk in Your mouth! Oh most wonderful Lord! Clap
Your Hands! Maal vaNNanE! (Cloud colored Lord!) Clap Your Hands!

9. You kicked the wheel (sakatAsuran) with Your small foot, as cute, naughty
infant! When she came as mother, You, as usual jumped on her and hugged her
and ate her milk and also her life! Parama udhaaranE! (vaLLalE- most
benevolent Lord) Clap Your Hands! Cloud colored Lord Clap Your Hands!

10. “kaaraar puyaRkaik kaliganRi mangaiyarkOn*
pErALan nenjil piriyaadhu ida~nkoNda/
seeraaLaa!* senthaamaraik kaNNA! thaN thuzhaay
thaaraaLaa! * kottaay sappaaNi!
Thada maarbhaa! Kottaay sappaaNi!

Oh Lord! The One who has the wealth of staying permanently in the heart of
Kaliyan, (who has long, benevolent hands that gives to others like the
clouds and  is the king of Thirumangai)!  Red lotus eyed Lord! One who wears
thulasi garland! Clap Your Hands! Large Divine Chested Lord! Clap Your
Hands!

Periya Thirumozhi 10.6- "siRu thaambinaal kattuNdap paNNiya peru maayan"

AzhwAr (Thirumangai AzhwAr) now immerses and loses himself to Kutti KaNNan,
(SarvEshwaran, Sarvagnan, SarvavyApakan, Swamy, Sarva sEshi) letting Himself
be tied down by a rope by an illiterate Ayar padi (cowherd) woman YashOdhA.
NammAzhwAr also, fainted for almost 6 months, it is told, moved by His
Sowlabhyam of being allowed to be tied down to a mortar with a rope.

Let us enjoy this ten on His sowlabhyam.

1. The One who revealed Vedas to establish dharma in the world; In addition,
the One who  has the Moon, the Sun, Earth, the wavy oceans, the mountains,
the fire, as His own and manifests in them; who has His lovely neck, that
can swallow all of them too; Such greatest Lord- SarvEshwaran- what He did:
The just churned fresh butter- He stole that and ate. Got Himself caught
red-handed and allowed Himself tied down by a cowherd woman. Is there any
such wonderstruck even in the world similar to this? (None.)

2. The One who had the unparalleled huge manthara mountain as the “matthu”
(stick) for churning, the snake Vasuki as the rope, churned the huge ocean-
Later once aimed a round arrow to straighten the hunch back of a woman; one
who had retained in His stiomach seven worlds, seven mountains, seven
oceans, during dissolution and protected the same- Today- Such greatest
Lord- SarvEshwaran- what He did: The just churned fresh butter- He stole
that and ate. Got Himself caught red-handed and allowed Himself tied down by
a cowherd woman. See for yourself.

3. The strongest Madhu, kaitapars,-when shivering Devas pleaded the Lord,
prostrating at His Feet for saving them from the asurAs, - were killed by
SarvEshwaran. Also the One who effortlessly tore the body of HiraNyan (which
was huge like a mountain) into two- who had  the bent Divine Bow in his
Hand; - Today Such greatest Lord- SarvEshwaran- what He did: The just
churned fresh butter- He stole that and ate. Got Himself caught red-handed
and allowed Himself tied down by a cowherd woman.

4. Devas, when exhausted by asurAs’ troubles, prayed to Him “You are our
rakshakan”, He became one immediately and protected them, by killing strong
arrogant HiraNyan. SarvEshwaran, the Consort of Periya PiraaTTi MahAlakshmi,
grew huge and big to capture all the whole Universe from MahAbhali by
measuring the whole universe (surrounded by oceans) with His Feet. Today-
Such greatest Lord- SarvEshwaran- what He did: The just churned fresh
butter- He stole that and ate. Got Himself caught red-handed and allowed
Himself tied down by a cowherd woman.

5. The One who expanded everywhere during Vamana avtaar- who has His Lotus
Feet (for devotees to surrender) in order to alleviate all sorrows of His
devotees and enable them reach the status equal to Nithyasooris (as
Mukthas). Such Parama upakArakan- One who instructed Yama and his dhUthAs,
that “They are my devotees and are not to be scrutinized for any further”.
(AS they are assured of mOksham for having surrendered to His Lotus Feet).
One who has the entire Universe under His control; - Today- Such greatest
Lord- SarvEshwaran- what He did: The just churned fresh butter- He stole
that and ate. Got Himself caught red-handed and allowed Himself tied down by
a cowherd woman.

6. Swamy Sriya: Pathi Sriman Narayanan- the Sri Vallabhan- the One who
removes all paapams of devotees who brush aside all pleasures that are
prohibited in saasthras, and surrender to the Lotus Feet of His, makes them
all His own in SrivaikuNtam as His eternal servants performing servitude, -
The One cut the thousand shoulders of strong, angry KaarthaveeryArjunan, who
came in front of Him, saying “I am Your enemy”. – Today- Such greatest Lord-
SarvEshwaran- what He did: The just churned fresh butter- He stole that and
ate. Got Himself caught red-handed and allowed Himself tied down by a
cowherd woman.

7. After praLayam (the dissolution of this cosmic universe), He created the
worlds again. He has the ThiruvuLLam to have the jIvans who surrender to
Him, saved by Him and He places them as His daasars (servants). The
illiterate asurAs (who do not have this knowledge of saraNagathy) are
destroyed due to their own arrogance and anger against the Lord. To do that
all that He did is to build a bridge with mountains across the ocean with
the help of monkeys.  Today- Such greatest Lord- SarvEshwaran- what He did:
The just churned fresh butter- He stole that and ate. Got Himself caught
red-handed and allowed Himself tied down by a cowherd woman.

8. The dense, dark, black haired, unparalleled SitA PiraaTTi, wearing most
beautiful ornaments – and of about the same aged Divine Bow was broken by
Sri Rama and He united with SitA. He crossed the inaccessible lankA and
destroyed rAvaNan and cut his ten heads, shoulders and legs. Today - Such
greatest Lord- SarvEshwaran- what He did: The just churned fresh butter- He
stole that and ate. Got Himself caught red-handed and allowed Himself tied
down by a cowherd woman.

9. The curly red, blonde haired angry Kesi (horse) asurA was chased by
KaNNan. It (he) ran everywhere. He caught hold of him and tore open the
mouth to kill him. Also, He as Rama, with His strong Bow aimed an arrow
through seven trees; cut the sharp nose of SoorpaNakai. Today- Such greatest
Lord- SarvEshwaran- what He did: The just churned fresh butter- He stole
that and ate. Got Himself caught red-handed and allowed Himself tied down by
a cowherd woman.

10. Kutti KaNNan, even after beinh caught red handed and tied down by a rope
to a mortar, for stealing and eating the butter, stands shamelessly to the
enjoyment of all those who flock to see Him. His only aim was to fill His
stomach with others’ butter, curd, milk and then caught by them red handed.
This ten is on that Butter thief’s Lotus Feet. This Tamil garland, is
composed by Kaliyan of Thirumangai. Those who recite them (or read them)
will NEVER EVER suffer from any sorrow or grievance at all. They will cross
blissfully the Chathurmukha BrahmA’s lokam and reach Parama padham.

Periya Thirumozhi 10.7- Liar, Cheater, reservoir of KaLLatthanam"- That is He.

Gone are the days when the veNNai (butter) alone was found missing. Now in
addition to butter, the young girls are also found missing in aayarpaadi.
The cowherd women come to YashodhA and complain. She also talks to them.
AzhwAr is giving an excellent narration thereby on the converstation. Let us
enjoy the Thirudan’s leelAs.

1. “KaNNA! Your kulam (aayar kulam) is well known. Hence, do not act lowly
with other girls”- I pleaded to Him. I never talk harsh word to Him; nor
does Nandhan speak. Oh women folks! What can I do? He is churing curd along
with one girl in that eastern house, it appears (in spite of all my sermon)

2. Early morning, I was out in the street for selling butter milk. KaNNan
was coming opposite. I was worried as to what He was upto. Except for the
most fragrant haired KaNNan, the son of NandhagOpan, none else entered into
my house. Oh YashOdhA! Come and see what KaNNan has done. Not only the
butter! All ten pots of milk also are missing from their pots. What can this
paapi do now? What can I do?

3. This little Boy, who has crystal clear mouth due to the nectar that keeps
flowing out in His mouth as sulliva- after eating, with both his hands, the
entire butter, which was like a silver heap inside the pot, He (pretends)
sleeps, hiding His mischief. The Hands are full of butter and Ghee. The
stomach is so huge as if it is capable of retaining all seven worlds; This
fool- (I), what can I do? (Tell me).

4. The dark, spear like eyed beautiful lady’s son- Balaraman is of white
Conch like colour. He has divine resplendent ThirumEni. This Boy’s
(KaNNan’s) elder Brother is He. This Balaraman had grown here so nicely. He
never used to such mischief. This KaNNan is full of great qualities like
telling lies. Cheater; Reservior of “KaLLatthanam” (mischief); what a way he
crawls! (so gracefully!) Such ParipooraNan (Fullest person, with all Bad
qualities in their entirety)- with Him here at Ayyarpaadi- how can we
(cowherd folks) get saved (!). What can I do? What can I do?

5. Oh YashOdhA! This girl’s father did not enter into the house; nor was I
at home. There were no girl friends too at home. My young girl- who has
fragrant flower in her hair- was playing with a ball- This KaNNan went to
her place (where she was playing) and snatched away the ball, and tore her
dress too. What can we do on this son of Nandha gOpan (he, being our chief).
What can I do? What can I do?

6. Oh YashOdhA! The Divine consort of BhUmi PiraaTTi- The Naayakan of Periya
PiraaTTi, seated on the Lotus flower- the little darling of NandhagOpan-
Sarva sEshI- such Greatest KaNnan- last night came to our place where our
huts are, blowing a small leaf, rolled as flute. After that my girl’s
situation is: her lotus like eyes have become ruddy, and tired; her breasts
appear engorged; her lotus mouth appears pale; her complexion has become
pale. What can I do? What can I do?

7. Your son- what did He do? During the festival celebrated for thousand
eyed Indra, there were thousands of food items in huge vessels, brought in
bullock carts for offering to DevEndran. You son, went there, took huge form
and finished all items of food taking them in both hands and gulped them all
and he stood as if He had not done anything at all.

8. YashOdhA tells them..”Those cowherd folks come to me saying “the just
fermented fresh curd, the freshly melted Ghee- the milk, will all be drunk
from each of its container by KaNNan”. I get terribly embarrassed and tell
Him.. “Please do not do any such mischief”. I cannot even scold Him, women
folks! I am afraid of scolding Him, after His drinking the breast milk of
Poothanai.

9. This ParipoorNan- the strongest child- the most Handsome Boy- on the
seventh day after His birth, I made Him (adorned with the garland made of
dense petals ) sleep and went to yamuna river for taking bath. This infant-
the most Youthful Lord, who has Sri vathsam and PiraaTTi in His Chest,
kicked with His small Foot, a giant wheel (sakatAsuran)- that crawled
towards Him, like a mountain -and crushed the same to pieces. After being
aware of such strength of this Boy’s, I am afraid of scolding Him.

10. Oh women folks! I am afraid of even calling Him addressing His mischief.
KaNNA! The boys of your age- for their consumption, the ghee is filled in
1000 vessels and not even 50% is available now due to Your eating. Kamsan is
also very cruel. The tax that is to be paid to him is due in next eight
days. I do not have any other savings (of butter) too. Your acts are
terribly hurting my heart KaNNA. what can I do? What can I do?

11. KaNNA! NambhI! Why should you act like that towards cowherd girls also?
When they go for taking bath in that lotus pond, you went behind, hide
yourself and took away their clothes. When such narrow waisted girls asked
for their clothes back, “Oh beautiful girls! You come and take from my
place” and climbed to the treetop. (KaNNA! yENdaa ippadi yellaam paNNRE!)

12. This Boy is not afraid or scared of anything. He is full of masculinity
and bravery. Since I am His darling mother who looks after Him lovingly
(ucchi mOndhu), He is not telling me anything. Today what He has done is: He
climbed on top of Kadambha tree and jumped into a water reservoir, and
fought with the terribly venomous 1000 mouthed KaaLingan snake, that exhales
poison and came back.

13. KaNNA, the One who gives me pride! Why should You do those acts that
others can not even dream of (leave alone doing). Seeing such hair raising
deadly acts of Yours- how can I bear (for having had You in my womb- (peRRa
vayiRu) – what can I do? You are playing with the ruddy eyed, dark bulls,
(which make thunderous roars sending shivers through all seven worlds), in
that ever-beautiful garden.

14. The One who walks like the beautiful Swan- the feminine YashOdhA-,
narrated worriedly beating her stomach (vayiRRil aditthu), with utter
helplessness, was so scared and afraid of fearsome, deadly act of killing
the huge dark strong elephant Kuvalayaapeetam by the most beautiful,
strongest KaNNan- is sung by Kaliyan, king of Thirumangai, (surrounded by
tall strong ramparts), praised by one and all for his guNAs. Those who
recite (or read) this 14 pAsurams will have ABSOLUTELY no grievance or
sorrows.

Periya Thirumozhi 10.8- naamam pala udai nAraNa nambhI

KaNNapiraan, who had enjoyed being with aayar paadi girls, go away from each
of them for a short time. They feel angry and have “oodal” with Him. He
sneaks into their places in tiptoes. Through the girls’ angry words on
KaNNan, let us enjoy AzhwAr's yet another excellent ten

1. With the studs adoring Your ears, with the dress in dark colour, having a
garland of thuLasi, densely placed together, (with such a delay in Your
coming) why have You come from the back doors and are standing here? What is
this deed! What is it! what is it! (idhuven idhuvennO!)

2. With that beautiful red dress, gently shaking a small flower with stem (
“cheNdu”), placing His flute (dissembled into two pieces) at His waist,
wearing a top (utthiriyam- above the dress) around His waist strongly and
tightly, - He is standing here at the door- who is He? What is it! What is
it!

3. The One who has Garuda in Your flag! Unparalleled and unsurpassed One who
can ride on that GarudA! You, while having your sleep (kaLLat thuyil) as an
infant, kicked the sakatAsuran and finished him off with Your Feet! In order
to allure those who are born as females, You have entered into our home, at
this part of the night, humming an enticing tune. What is it! What is it

4. naamam pala udai nAraNa nambhI!
thaamath thuLavam miga naaRiduginReer!
Kaamanenap paadi vandhillam pugundheer!
yEmatthidhuven indhven idhuvennO?

Sriman NarayanA! The One who has thousand names, each one is so blemishless
and so divine! You are standing with the divine fragrance of Your thuLasi
garland enchanting our olfactory nerves. You have come like the handsome
Manmathan and are singing so mellifluously. What have You entered into the
house, singing at this time (at night)? What is it! What is it!

5. With the dark beautiful, curly black tresses are hugging aimlessly around
the nape of your neck (the mane not looked after properly), with the sword
placed around the waist, the Divine Body, adorned with the invaluable
ornaments, why have You entered into our backyard, standing with such a
mischievous smile on Your face? What is it! What is it!

6. The cowherd boys, (who rear the cattle), the cows are all not at this
place; they are somewhere else- when such is the case, holding the most
victorious Bow in Your resplendent Hand, ogling at those who go out and stay
in- why are You entering secretly? For those who do not know what is the
pleasure of being united, what is the point in being here? What is it! What
is it!

7. Oh MaNavaaLa piLLaay, the strong shouldered One who fought against the
wrestlers (“mallar”)! Last night when we united with You, we have understood
about You. Never ever you inform us as to when you would be back; nor do You
come at the time if and when You promise that you would come. Always late.
Why are you going leaving us at the right time (without staying longer)? Why
are you not coming back at the correct time (when you promise). How have You
come in now sheepishly, without any shame?

8. Oh most pristinely purest Lord! The One who jumped into the pond, and
caught hold of the deadly poisonous snake, rotating it with Your Hand! We do
not think that we are any way useful for You. There are many Consorts who
are suitable, and most eligible for You. You have made them chief of Your
consorts (patta mahishIs). ( Then why are You here?)  What is it! What is
it!

9. Periya PiraaTTi, BhUmi PiraaTTi- they are all searching for You; You left
them and have danced with these feminine cowherd girls. Oh most Handsome
One! One of our girls is yelling: “my friend! Who let Him in? What is it!
What is it!”?

10. This ten is on the words spoken by the cowherd girls on KaNNan, the
lotus eyed Lord, for having failed to come as promised at night. It is
composed by Kaliyan who has strong shoulders more solid than stone. Those
who recite them, praising the Lord, will be blessed to live happily with no
worries.

Periya Thirumozhi 10.9  "kavuL koNda neeraam ivaL enakkarudhuginRaayE"

In the last ten, after a small “oodal” with KaNNan, and some time of   togetherness, He has left. AzhwAr is in NayikA Bhavam and is suffering from   pangs of separation. Her mother narrates this ten on her sufferings and   appeals to the Lord.

1.      Oh My most helpful, merciful Swami! The demon looking Poothanai (sending
shivers through the children who see her), came at midnight with a cunning
heart, was killed; and also, You made sure that fire engulfs and eats the
whole lankA city with its scorching flames. You are such strongest Lord. Is
that the reason You are laying back, thinking that “my girl’s love” is like
a small bowl in the hands of a toddler, that you can snatch away whenever
You want, without not considering her love for You and others’ talking about
(“pazhicchol”) her love (for You).

2.      Oh Thirumalai upakaarakanE! Oh Lord of vast, blue hued Ocean colour! You
danced in the streets holding pots when You appeared as KaNNan; You fought
with seven dark huge bulls and killed them; You protected the cattle and
cowherd folks when angry DevEndran sent heavy down pour on aayarpaadi.
Thinking of all such masculine strongest deeds of Yours, are You like this
on my girl? Did You consider her just like the honey in that tree of
drumstick grown in Your temple You can easily consume and You took away her
bangles. I don’t know.

3.      Oh Lord of dark, black cloud colour!  Most beautiful One! During
KrishNAvataar, You effortlessly killed the strong Kamsan and thinking of
that strongest, victorious deed, are You like this on my girl.. About this
girl, who wears most valuable ornaments- who herself is like the pearl
necklace- who is like nectar that came of our of the vast ocean – so sweet-
You appear to be thinking as if “she is like the stone ball of crude
“jaggery” (karruppankaatti)  in Your Hand that can be eaten and enjoyed at
any time or be thrown away too. (“ankaiyil vattaam ivaL enRu
karudhuginRaayE..”)

4.      You have given a potion of Your ThirumEni as place of residence for the
braod shouldered, deer skinned Sivan; You had killed NarakAsuran with your
strong Hand’s might. Thinking of those strong deeds, are You like this on
her? You appear to have taken away the beautiful complexion of this girl-
who has “sevvi” flowers on her hairs. But You have not shown Yourself to her
even once. You appear to be thinking of her as if she is like a bow in the
hands of Your devotees (servants) that You can take any time You feel like.
Oh PoorNanE! What is the use of telling all this!

5.       You sent those kings (who had never seen failure in their battle fields
earlier) to heaven (the route to which was densely grown with grass and
bushes since none was passing through that route), without even lifting a
single weapon. Such was Your might and greatness. Is that why You did like
this on this girl? Our darling, sweet, soft spoken girl, who wears the honey
dripping garlands on her- You do not think of her greatness. You talk as if
She is inferior to even the “naval pazham” ( a small black fruit) that has
fallen on the street, which can be either taken in or ignored and she does
not even deserve to be considered for a choice to take her or leave like the
pazham (fruit). I do not know what is Your ThiruvuLLam. It is our paapam.

6.      You conquered the king of asurAs with Your single bow making the women of
lankA widows. Then when PiraaTTi cam to join You, You did not even see Her,
ignoring even Devas’ plea to You. Is that the reason why You are like this
towards her? Not only did You take away the bangles from the hands of this
girl, who has red “murukka” flower like mouth, You do not even show Yourself
to her-not even once. Oh our most helpful Lord! Parama upakaarakanE! For a
leaf of “yerukku”, which can automatically fall of after some time, why does
one have to throw an axe to let it fall?

7.      You had the axe in Your Hand that cut the thousand shoulders of
KaarthaveeryArjunan, the ruler of this world, surrounded by oceans, under
whose feet, other strong kings fell. Due to such greatest strength of Yours,
did You act like this one her? Is that why? You stole the beautiful
complexion of my girl. Not even once, You show Yourself to her showing Your
beautiful form and ThirumEni. Oh My Swami! The One who is like vast ocean!
Why does one have to take a stick for an egg of a hen that can break by
itself?

8.      You tore the strong body of HiraNyan with Your sharp nails and threw the
body for the birds to eat merrily. Also when Sugreevan hid himself in
Rishyamukha parvatham from vaali, You killed Vaali, taking pity on the good
natured Sugreevan. Such strongest Lord- Is that why you are like this on
her? You do not think of the greatness of this girl, who has large beautiful
well spread eyes and who has curly tresses where bees hum always. To speak
of what You think of her, it is as if You consider her like a saliva in
one’s cheeks (or mouth). Either you can take it in or spit it out. (“kavuL
koNda neeraam ivaL enakkarudhuginRaayE”)

9.      Fire, water, space, the vast earth, air- are all Your saRiram- and is
that why You did like this on her? “This girl- who has the best qualities
and nature- she is not for anyone else except Me” – is that Your ThiruvuLLam
because of which You act like this? I must have committed a great paapam for
me to lose this girl. This girl who is like the nectar that came out of
ocean, You appear to be thinking as if she is the garden in the house of a
Brahmin, who grooms agni at all times.

10.     Without desiring for the Bhagavath Vishayam that I seek, let it come due
to His grace when he feels like giving, and with that intention, I surrender
to his Feet performing Prapatti at His Feet. He is my Parama upakaarakan;
most merciful Lord, SarvEshwaran, who wears Thirutthuzhaay garland on his
Head. Kaliyan the king of Thirumangai, who pays his obeisance to such
greatest SarvEshwaran, composes this ten. Those who recite them will be
blessed with Paramabhakti in their hearts and be blessed with KaimkaryasrI.
